What to look for

  • HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz: These let a PS5 or Xbox Series X run at up to 120fps. Check how many HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1, because some TVs only have one or two.
  • VRR and ALLM: VRR (variable refresh rate) cuts screen tearing. ALLM switches the TV into game mode automatically.
  • Panel type: OLED gives perfect blacks. Mini LED gets brighter, which helps in sunny rooms.
  • Read the spec table: Some listings quote a higher refresh figure in the description than in the spec table. Trust the spec table, or check the maker's site.
